Dieses Zitat stammt von James Bailey aus der Bionicle Moccer Facebook Gruppe "piece out". Ein sehr interessanter Zufall, wie ich finde. Hab jetzt keine genaueren Quellen für diese Annahme, aber das Zitat sollte genügen. Was haltet ihr von dieser Behauptung? Ist Bionicle das Produkt eines Tumors?

Von dieser Tatsache, dass er Pillen nehmen musste und dadurch auf kleine Krieger in den Kanistern gekommen ist,, hab ich auch erst vor einer Weile mitbekommen, ich glaub letztes Jahr durch ein Youtube Video von einem Bionicle Youtuber. Und mich hat das total baff gemacht, ich bin einfach nur eine Weile da gesessen und hab mir das ganze durch den Kopf gehen lassen.

Naja, selbst wenn die BIONICLE-Grundidee davon kommt, was wäre daran schlimm? Bin mir ziemlich sicher dass andere Franchises durch noch verrücktere Zufälle gestartet sind (auch wenn mir gerade kein anderes wirklich dazu einfällt).

Dass die Idee für den GG-Roboter vom menschl. Körper kommt, war für mich eigentlich schon immer klar gewesen.
Nur eine Sache lässt mich Mr. Baileys Theorie anzweifeln:

The beginning of BIONICLE spielte auf der Insel Mata Nui. Soweit ich weiß war die Sache mit dem GG-Roboter damals noch nicht bekannt. Bisher hab ich immer gedacht, man hätte sich das erst später aus den Fingern gesogen.
Und da James Bailey nicht Greg Farshtey heißt, warte ich erst mal ab .

Dass Mata Nui ein 12.000 Kilometer großer Roboter aka das Matoranische Universum ist, haben *wir* erst 2008 erfahren. Dank Greg wissen wir aber, dass das davor bereits über 8 Jahre lang feststand und uns nur verheimlicht wurde.

Die Sache mit Fabers Hirntumor habe ich hier jetzt zum ersten Mal gelesen, aber sie scheint der Wahrheit zu entsprechen. Per Google bin ich auf diesen interessanten Beitrag auf BZPower gestoßen, der sich wiederum auf das Buch "Brick by Brick" beruft:

According to "Brick by Brick: How LEGO Rewrote the Rules of Innovation and Conquered the Global Toy Industry", back in the earliest stages (when it was still going by "Voodoo Heads" and similar names) the idea of the characters living inside a giant robot was not established. The giant robot as the "big story engine" was not adopted until summer of 1999 when ADVANCE joined the project. As an art director, Christian Faber introduced the concept of the Mata Nui robot based on his recent diagnosis with a benign brain tumor, and the medication he was taking to keep it from spreading. It was around this same time that the theme finally acquired the name BIONICLE (for "biological chronicle").

"Faber imagined the toy canisters as vials of medicine drifting toward the head of a giant, comatose robot that was infected with a virus. The medicine's active ingredient was an army of nano-size creatures that arrived in pill-shaped capsules, entered the titan's body, and fought to liberate it from the virus." (Page 154)

Ist auf jeden Fall ein sehr interessantes Detail.
